Hello
dear visitor, welcome to my website.
Let me introduce myself.... My name is Anita Everts. Born as Anna Ceacilia
Everts on december 24 in 1958, in Amsterdam (The Netherlands). I'm still
living there in my own cozy little 'palace' with my 3 adorable cats
Nala, Tim and Mike.
As a child I was already quite creative. At my weekly visit at Grandma,
I was always placed in front of the painting's easel.... Grandma painted
beautiful panoramic landscapes in gorgeous gold-plated baroque pictureframes.
Did I had the talent for this? No…. absolutely not, but it was a lot
of fun to do. Painting was not really my cup of tea but it layed the
foundation of my future creativity.
The nuns at elementary school taught me patience and discipline. Even
if the knitting work was almost finished, if there was a fault in the
last row, you had to begin all over again. As a child I found this awful,
but later on I learned to appreciate the qualities they taught me.
In my further school period I always chose the creative subjects, like
handcrafts, art history and fashion design. I really wanted a job as
an activity therapist or window-dresser but unfortunately it didn't
work out like that. I graduated from the "MAVO" and found
a job at the AMRO bank, after this I found a job at the local council
of Amsterdam as a secretary, at the service Work & Income of the
works council. Still enjoying my job to this very day.
So it became an office job and perhaps this helped me to express my
creativity. I started off with a workshop in making jewelry and lots
of necklaces, earrings and bracelets were designed by me and received
well by enthusiastic friends, family and colleagues. Occasionally I
made jewelry for a couple of brides, this was really special.
Back in 1996 I started modeling with Fimo clay. The possibilities were
endless. Many scenes were made by me, like music boxes for new born
babies and birth announcement cards worked out in clay. Like money boxes
with music and toilet-dolls. Like "dreutels" (sort of trolls)
and Christmas scenes with little bears.
After a couple of years I couldn't urge myself to knead and mix the
firm Fimo anymore and began my search for another hobby. Meanwhile I
kept myself busy with painting ceramics and in 2002 I started making
3D cards. The Christmas-, birthday- and get well cards were received
well by friends and colleagues until.... my visit in 2005 at the international
doll fair in Ahoy (Rotterdam). I already used al lot of fairies in my
cards but in Ahoy a wonderful fairy-tale world opened before my eyes.
The elfs displayed at this fair came to life for me. I really wanted
to learn how to sculpt like this.
I screwed up my courage and signed up for a course in dollmaking by
Hannie Sarris. I was very lucky because I could start right away in
january 2006 for my first lessons in dollmaking. With a lot of patience
and great devotion Hannie taught me the first steps in modeling without
using molds, making fairy-like figurines. After this I could no longer
be stopped.
I work with airdrying clay like Premier and for clothing I use organza,
silk and beautiful bridal lace, I decorate this with ribbon and Swarovski
crystals. The tools/material that I use I purchase on the internet at
webshops, one of my favorites is Triskel Fantasy Shop. Besides that
I like to browse the Albert Cuyp and many markets in Amsterdam for beautiful
silk and bridal lace.
The inspiration for my elfs comes from everywhere. From nature and the
people around me, but also from many other dollmakers like for instance
Gerda Schaarman and Diana Guelinckx-DeBecker.
Since june 2007 I'm a member of the Fairy
Fantasy Forum. A group of very enthusiastic Dutch and Belgian dollmakers,
who like to share information and experiences with one another, and
try to stimulate doll art by showing their work to everyone. I haven't
been sculpting fairy-like figurines for a long time and will still have
to find and develop my own style. The forum is a great inspiration for
me.
At home in my "little studio" enough ideas will pop up and
I hope I can bring them to life one of these days.
I hope you enjoy my elves on this site, let them make you dream away
to places where magic is still alive and everything is possible.
With fairygreetings,
